Kellyanne Conway’s feet on the sofa – tres déclassé

I think there is a White House staffer who has, on his wall, a little poster that says, “Kellyanne Conway has not embarrassed the President for three days straight.  The record is four days straight.”

I say that because yesterday, when President Trump was meeting with presidents and chancellors and leaders from historically black colleges and universities, the AFP news agency took a photo of the gathering.

The President is standing.

The HBCU leaders are standing.

But look who’s sitting on the couch, checking her phone, and sitting … well … in a very unique manner.

Wow.  Just wow.

I guess she lost the person who taught her manners in the Bowling Green Massacre.  Don’t mind me, I’m just quoting alternate facts on that.

But still… I don’t care if it’s the President, the Queen, or the Dalai Lama.  If the leader stands, you stand.  You show respect not only to your boss, but also to the dignitaries.  I mean, seriously, what kind of disrespect are you showing these university leaders and educators by stuffing your feet into a couch like that, kneeling in that too-short-for-Catholic-school dress, and checking your phone like you’re monitoring a Nicki Minaj beef?

And for that matter, where are your shoes?  Did you take them off before you knelt on that couch?  You know if they were Ivanka Trump branded shoes, you need to show them off so that people know what pairs to buy on QVC…

Trust me.  The last time I sat on a couch like that, I was six years old, it was Saturday morning, and I was watching The Bugaloos and eating a bowl of Sugar Smacks.  I was six years old and didn’t have manners back then, Kellyanne, what’s your excuse?

Then again, I don’t think Kellyanne Conway gives two coconuts about what we think.  She wasn’t running for President.  She’s just the Presidential advisor and counselor, whatever that terminology and job description defines.   She gets to do what she wants, whenever she wants, for whatever it benefits her.  And picking on her for her tres déclassé behavior is like swinging at low-hanging fruit.  It’s too easy.  Besides, with my luck I’ll probably get nasty-grammed by someone who might tell me that it’s perfectly natural for a lady to sit on a couch like that, and what right do I have to ever suggest otherwise, and maybe I should mind my own business…

Sorry.  I tuned that voice out about a sentence and a half ago.

But yeah, the big thing is, what Kellyanne Conway doesn’t realize is that this would have been a perfect opportunity for President Trump to have a photo session with respected HBCU leaders.  And instead of us talking about that, we’re talking about how Trump’s right-hand person is sitting on a couch, checking her phone, in complete disrespect to the President’s guests and the President himself.  The focal point isn’t on President Trump or the HBCU leaders.  The focal point is on Kellyanne Conway.

Congratulations, Kellyanne Conway.

The “days without embarrassing yourself” counter just got reset to zero.
